Tools, Offerings,
and Modalities

  • Individual counseling is a type of mental health service provided by a licensed therapist to help people work through personal issues, such as stress, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, grief, and more. It is a confidential, client-centered approach to therapy that focuses on helping the individual reach their goals and improve their overall mental health and wellbeing. The counselor will typically work with the client to identify their problem areas, develop coping strategies and techniques, and create an action plan to help the individual move forward.

  • Couples Counseling is a form of therapeutic work that focuses on helping couples improve their relationship. Through the use of a mediator, effective communication, and conflict resolution skills, a couples counselor can help couples, families, and even friends, resolve issues and create healthier bonds. The aim of couples counseling is to create a safe, supportive environment in which both parties can discuss their challenges and emotions openly and honestly, and develop strategies to better understand and manage their relationship.

  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and Parts Work/IFS (Internal Family Systems) are psychotherapeutic techniques that focus on resolving traumatic memories, reducing psychological distress, and building a strong and harmonious internal system. EMDR focuses on using bilateral stimulation (eye movements, sounds, or tapping) to process the traumatic event and reduce its intensity, while Parts Work focuses on understanding the internal parts of the individual and how they interact with each other while strengthening the core adult self. Both approaches can be used to help people identify and resolve internal conflicts and traumatic experiences.

  • Using elements from The Artist’s Way (written by Julia Cameron), Inner Child Work, and Guided Meditations we will work together to ignite your inner artist and set goals for your creativity. This offering is for actors, dancers, musicians, and visual artists to integrate personal discovery and healing work into your performance and creative crafts. SC has a background in the performing arts as a Musical Theatre actress and knows the benefit of therapeutic work to enhance your artistry. This work is also offered in group settings.

  • Many of us need a safe place to make sense of evolving spiritual beliefs and values and intentional religious trauma healing. I offer a space to process the trauma of negative religious experiences that may have resulted in shame, confusion, and feeling spiritually homeless. This work involves recognizing and understanding the impact of rigid, oppressive, and toxic beliefs due to religious teaching, practices and institutions, as well as exploring strategies to cope with the past and give birth to a new and flourishing spiritual life and practice.

  • Bungalow Client Review

"Working with Sarah Claire at Bungalow has changed my life and how I show up in my world. Her gentle and curious approach to listening, teaching, and modeling has led me to experience healing within myself, as well as relationships with those I hold close to my heart. Sarah Claire has taught me how to show up as a curious sister, friend, daughter, and human. She has walked me through my darkest pains of grief, and held my heart through my most healing journey of finding my inner artist. Walking through life with SC is, and will continue to be, a transformative experience."

  • Bungalow Client Review

"I sought out Bungalow for counseling in a “lost” time in my life. I remember my first session with her, asking her “teach me to find happiness and to love myself.” I had done therapy in the past but truly wanted to dive into the "Why?" behind my feelings. There were times I loved seeing and talking to Sarah Claire, and there were times were I would dread it. Crying before, during and after sessions. I soon learned that these hard sessions were growing me. I was learning about all the parts of myself. I was learning to be gentle with my younger self, to love and care for that little girl. After many sessions and some tough love, I can say I am in a better place. By no means am I “finished” and “changed” but still slowly learning to give myself grace in this crazy world we live in. I was the one who never thought therapy could change me. I would often tell Sarah Claire, “this isn’t going to work"...but with her patience and my consistency, she helped me lower my protectors and find my true core self…. Who loves therapy now!!!”

"Working with Sarah Claire has quite literally saved and changed my life. In my consistent work with SC, I have gained the tools and skill sets to tackle and address crippling habits, overwhelming anxieties, and spiraling patterns. There is no exaggeration in the statement ‘I do not know where I would be without working with SC.’I feel empowered, confident, and equipped to handle the constant ups and downs that life throws my way, due to the tactics I’ve adopted in this consistent work. I am beyond thankful for this space and the life-saving/changing growth I’ve discovered, due to this therapist-client relationship."

“I worked closely with Rachel at Bungalow Counseling and I feel confident in saying she has absolutely changed my life for the better. I feel I have long term solutions to some of my issues that felt like they would plague me forever. I truly did not feel capable of handling some of my big life hardships, and it led me to a really dark place. Rachel gave me a safe and reliable place to land as I processed and worked on myself. I truly don't know where I would be without this opportunity, and I am so thankful I have arrived at the place I am now.”

The Session Experience

In a typical session, you can expect to work with a range of modalities suited to your unique being and what is showing up in your life at the time. We will take our first sessions to identify what goals you have and design a treatment path that feels empowering for you.

In this space we listen deeply.

We slow down to breathe.

We normalize the human experience.

We name and feel emotions.

We utilize evidence based therapies to support healing and growth.

We explore truer and more loving expressions of God
and cultivate healthy spirituality.

We acknowledge and comfort our inner child selves.

We honor laughter and tears.

We call out toxic belief systems.

We celebrate courage, vulnerability, and resilience.

We befriend the most annoying and painful parts of us.

We get curious about how past and current wounds show up in our bodies and behaviors today.

We learn to regulate our nervous systems.

We expose oppressive systems and work towards justice, equality and freedom for all.

We practice listening to our bodies.

We create new neural pathways that will lead us into a healthier and more present life.

We grow in our skills to navigate the wild terrain of what it is to be human.
